8 Exceptional Things Successful People Do On Weekends (3 of 5)

4. Practice Self-Care

If you are an exceptionally driven person, you might feel like nothing you do is good enough. Perhaps you aren’t moving up the career ladder as quickly as you expect. Alternatively, you may be excessively critical of yourself for achieving success only 9 out of 10 times last week, despite your demand for perfection. Maybe you measure success in terms of how many hours of overtime you do. In the long run, this is going to have an adverse effect on your mental and physical health. You’re bound to burn yourself. You will lose motivation by setting unrealistic expectations for yourself. So instead of focusing exclusively on the things you perceive as inadequate, remind yourself that you’ve come pretty far in life. You are deserving of the success you have right now, and you will be equally worthy of the success you have down the road. But take things one step at a time. And remember, practice self-care as a routine, not merely something you do when you’re feeling on edge.

5. Plan For The Upcoming Week

Here are some words that successful people live by: You can’t plan for the past, but you can bring the future into the present! When Sunday evening arrives, take some time to plan out the upcoming week. Pull up your work calendar and see what meetings/appointments are taking place, which projects are due, etc. How many times has a creative idea popped into your mind only after a meeting has ended? By doing some advanced planning, you’ll be able to carry out your role more efficiently, with more organization, better coordination, proper direction, and, yes, more creativity!
